Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of clinical support within the practice and working with dentists within surgery to ensure our customers receive excellent dental care in line with the mydentist values. By following efficient surgery procedures you will support the optimum utilisation of surgery time and will support the delivery of the best dental care possible. Offering professional dental care that is; friendly, compassionate and caring too

Clinical & Safety

  • On completion of induction and mandatory training, work in surgery under the supervision and guidance of the dentist
  • Adhere to all infection control procedures, maintain equipment and materials at all times and adhere to all mydentist procedures
  • Working within the standards set by the GDC Manage day to day aspects of surgery; daily / weekly checklist, stock control, waste removal, equipment maintenance and cleaning as per the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Work closely with the dentist in a professional manner, providing assistance during all dental procedures, supporting the maintaining of paper and electronic records as per mydentist procedures
  • Ensure waiting areas, corridors, stairs and immediate external areas are kept clean, tidy and free from slip and trip hazards
  • Wear correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing at all times as specified by applicable risk assessments and during cleaning activities
  • Ensure relevant risk assessments are known and complied with specifically in relation to the use of sharps
  • Read and comply with mydentist safeguarding policy, health and safety policy statement and handbook

Patient Journey

  • Pre Arrival - Ensure all lab work is checked and available prior to patients arrival and that the dentist has access to all required records
  • Wait – Work efficiently in order to keep to the appointment times, keep the reception team informed of any delays so that the customer can be advised
  • Move to Chair - Settle the patient in the chair, ensuring they are at ease and prepare them for treatment
  • In Chair - Provide patient with personal protective equipment and keep them at ease throughout the treatment
  • Wrap Up - Escort the patient from the surgery back to reception and brief the receptionist on next steps

Team Working

  • Work as part of the team, being flexible supporting any dentist and other areas as required including covering reception and administrative tasks as necessary
  • Liaise closely with reception to ensure smart diary management, keep reception informed of any delays throughout the day and support the offering of patient choice and consumables as appropriate
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training and performance reviews. Take ownership for own development utilising The Academy
  • Be vigilant and report any equipment defects, maintenance or safety issues or any accidents to the Practice Manager immediately. Co-operate with any investigations in order to prevent reoccurring incidents
  • Seek guidance and support from a mydentist qualified Nurse mentor in order to develop experience and expertise
  • Any other duties as required including supporting other mydentist practices

Person Specification

  • Commitment to complete the Level 3 Student Dental Nurse Programme approved by NEDBN
  • A – C in Maths and English GCSE completed within the last 5 years or achievement of at least level 1 in the mydentist administered English tests which forms part of the recruitment process
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates flexibility
  • Able to build strong relationships with the practice team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Ability to use IT and operate a computer based systems, experience of using R4 desired

Salary: Up to £22,100.00 per year
